The 3DBioRing™ AIRWAY is one example of the tissue platform and is the world’s first 3D printed airway tissue that exhibits highly physiological contraction and relaxation responses in an in vitro setting. Treatment with histamine triggers an asthma attack-like concentration-dependent contraction, with exposure to salbutamol causing rapid, pharmacologically-relevant relaxation.
Aspect’s 3DBioRing™ platform can be tailored for specific needs including modifying cell types, cell density, cellular microenvironment, tissue architecture, and tissue stiffness. These tissues are compatible for fabrication using our RX bioprinter series and are printed into standard tissue culture plates to enable parallelization of experiments. 3DBioRing™ printing is rapid, taking less than 1 minute to fabricate each tissue. Contraction assays are performed in situ and analyzed using simple videomicroscopy and visualization techniques.
